Nation's Biggest OBGYN Group Held a Pro-Abortion Workshop, Doctors Refused to Attend

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) insists that killing unborn babies in abortions is normal, routine health care – and it’s so universally accepted that the issue is beyond debate.

But one simple picture of a nearly-empty room last week exposed the lie.

“This is the ‘Abortion Rights Advocacy Roundtable’ at @acog’s Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting – the second most important event today,” the American Association of Pro-Life OB-GYNs wrote Friday on Twitter, posting a photo of a huge conference hall that was nearly empty.

The pro-life medical organization estimated that about 95 percent of the seats were empty. Meanwhile, the exhibitor hall was “packed,” it observed.

The room size suggests ACOG leaders had hoped the pro-abortion seminar would be a major event. Usually conferences hold smaller seminars in smaller rooms.

The pro-life doctors’ organization said they were not surprised by the lack of interest because most OB-GYNs do not abort unborn babies. Research puts the number at about 7 percent to 24 percent, according to AAPLOG.

“[This is] clear evidence that the majority of their membership is not interested in the radical abortion policies of their leadership,” the pro-life doctors wrote. “ACOG, listen to your members or they will keep leaving.”

Although traditional news outlets still treat ACOG as an unbiased, trustworthy medical source, the leaders of the medical group have become increasingly pro-abortion in recent years.

Earlier this month, ACOG even refused to defend its claim that aborting unborn babies is “essential” medical care in response to a debate request from the pro-life medical organization, according to the Washington Examiner.

Dr. Maureen Phipps, the president of ACOG, said her group “will not debate abortion as an essential part of reproductive health care.”

“Rather, we will continue to affirm that the role of abortion in our patients’ lives is settled science,” Phipps wrote in a statement provided to the Examiner.

The debate invitation came after ACOG kicked out the pro-life doctors at the last minute from another medical conference in February. Later, a spokesperson for ACOG confirmed to the Catholic News Agency that they now only “welcome exhibitors and meeting participants that align with ACOG’s … commitment to the advancement of evidence-based, scientific information.”

But the photo of its annual conference suggests most OB-GYNs do not believe killing unborn babies in abortions is medical care or “scientific.” Quite the opposite, tens of thousands of doctors recognize that babies in the womb are second patients who deserve medical care, and killing them in abortions violates their oath to “do no harm.”
